It felt that everything that I learned about wasn’t specific to the legal industry, and the few times it was, it was beyond outdated. I was always playing catch-up and trying to figure things out on my own.
I could not find a guide that had been there before for my journey.
There were always guides, but they were taking everyone to a destination that I was not trying to go to. These destinations were taking law firms back to 1980 instead of rocketing them into the future. But as I found a team of coaches and mentors for myself, I was able to piece together the information that I needed to build a million dollar law firm.
It is different to learn from someone that is in the trenches with you instead of someone watching from the sidelines.
I needed someone big enough to call me out. I’m a strong willed winner. My biggest wins come after one of my coaches says, “You are doing it wrong, let me help you on another way forward.” One of the amazing benefits of mentors and coaches is to learn more ways forward.
We built a million dollar a year practice with myself, Tracy (the attorney), a paralegal, and an administrative assistant. You read that right. Not with four attorneys. Not with anyone else bringing in the business. Not with a team of 52 people. Four of us, total. I know what I’m talking about. I have a proven system that gets results, each day and week, every month, and each year.
On top of that, we’ve done it in an area that is traditionally an “after-thought” in the legal profession: estate planning, probate and estate administration, and elder law. Zihmer Law Firm isn’t in the business of taking a 30% fee on multi-million dollar settlements. We work with every day people and families, we show them value by doing something that they don’t know how to do themselves, and we treat them like we want to be treated.
But Tracy and I didn’t take off until we both worked with coaches.
Now, with the sucess that we’ve had, I’m in a position to give back. I believe in helping others. My goal isn’t to jet off to a private island by myself.

In 2017, Tracy came to me and said she was ready to start her own law firm. She had been practicing for 5 years, and she was ready to take control. Neither of us had ever started a business and we did not consider ourselves to be entrepreneurs.
From 2012 through 2016, Tracy had built her book of business from $0 to $140,000 a year due to mentors and mostly, her hard work and determination.
When March of 2017 came around, Zihmer Law Firm was born. Together, we spent hours and hours going over everything needed to start a law firm. Quickly, my role was to “run the business”. However, I was working all day as an electrical engineer designing simulators to train the US Navy, and then came home to help run payroll, update Quickbooks, build the website, and create processes. We had a goal that I would join the firm full time within 5 years.
By December 2017, Tracy gave me an ultimatum – join the law firm full time or she needed to find my replacement. It was gut check time. I had a solid salary that I could count on, nice time off, and great benefits including healthcare. To join Tracy at the firm meant giving all of that up and betting on ourselves.
In January 2018, I handed my notice to my boss and on March 15, 2018, I walked out of engineering forever to master how to build, grow, and scale our law firm.
As of today, our annual revenue is $1.2 million. I’ve personally turned over $2 million of prospective clients into clients for the firm. I created our digital marketing, email marketing, and social media marketing. I’ve built relationships. I’ve hired (and fired) employees, built a team, and learned what it takes to get it right. I’ve spent countless hours learning from and studying the very best at running businesses, sales, marketing, and branding.
But the secret has always been working with a mentor and coach.
I took 42 days off, over 7 weeks of time away from work in 2022. I’m not chained to this business, I’ve moved to owning it and creating a lifestyle that I love.
I’ve learned and mastered every part of building a successful law firm that they don’t teach you in law school.

You aren't an attorney - how could you even help me?
That’s the point! Prior to joining Zihmer Law Firm (and growing it into a million dollar firm!) my career spanned developing satellites for the military, helping nuclear power plants to operate safely, and designing simulators and training systems for the US Navy that modeled nuclear reactors. I gave that up because working with attorneys is my passion.
Besides, I’m really good at it. When I came to Zihmer Law Firm, we had just done $150,000 in revenue. That then skyrocketed to over $1,000,000!
Getting to a million dollars in revenue is not easy. You get there with great marketing and building a brand. With that then comes building a sales funnel and learning how to really close people. You have to turn prospects into clients. During this time, you have to value your services and make sure that you aren’t working for free or a discount. Through all of this, we must come up with not just a way to do all of this, but the BEST WAY. Then, that best way must be documented, turned into a system, and delegated to others.
And the entire time that this is happening, we look to improve, automate, and refine each and every process.
We’ve moved to nearly 100% flat fee matters with payment always up front. No more chasing bills and asking for payment.
This is what I do at Zihmer Law Firm and what I am now offering for you. I’m not an attorney and I won’t ever be. That’s my secret sauce. I don’t think like an attorney, I don’t act like an attorney, and do you know why? Because I’m not one.

Am I locked in when working with you?
